Developing the highly skilled teacher – from early career teacher to independent professional – Online via Zoom

Date(s) - 19/10/2021
9:00 am - 2:30 pm

This course will be run online via Zoom. Full details of how to join will be sent in advance of the day.

Suitable for: Those who have recently completed their induction, colleagues now embarking upon the ECT pathway and those who have responsibility for early career teacher induction in their school. It will also be of interest to those with more experience looking to reenergize their professional growth.

Recruiting and retaining high quality teachers is an essential, but challenging, objective if we are to fulfil our commitment to parents, pupils and governors. Recent research indicates that retention is enhanced by high quality teacher development. Those embarking upon their professional journey are invariably well supported during induction but the process can leave areas of professional practice underdeveloped, and post induction teachers unsure of their next steps.

Course aim:

To examine how we can best enable the progression of the early career teacher beyond the initial induction phase, to become a creative, confident and consummate professional.

What you will learn:

  • The broader and increasingly sophisticated pedagogical and curriculum knowledge and skills that enable confident classroom leadership
  • Strategies for independently managing professional relationships
  • How to develop and become a self-directed and continually progressing professional educator
