Accredited by the Safer Recruitment Consortium, including the NSPCC and Lucy Faithful Foundation, this assessed course is aimed at anyone who will be involved in recruiting staff in Schools.

The course will cover four modules:

  • Safer Recruitment – Introduction/Background
  • A Safer Recruitment Process
  • Making the Right Decisions
  • An Ongoing Culture of Vigilance

This course aims to give participants an understanding of offender behaviour and how it can impact a safer recruitment process. It will detail all aspects of best practice in safer recruitment and a safer working culture. Participants will have the opportunity to practice and hone the skills required to recruit safely, including interview skills. Participants will be assessed and gain a certificate with their results which provides evidence of their attendance and understanding of the course.

Key aims:

  • To gain a good understanding of safer recruitment practices to ensure that the best quality decisions are made
  • To give participants an awareness of the risks to children in a school setting
  • To gain skills appropriate to a manager who recruits staff to work with children in schools
  • To gain an insight into the assessment process and using safeguarding competencies to ask “challenging questions”
